[www.inewsguyana.com] – Prime Minister Samuel Hinds seems to be unfettered by recent statements made by General Secretary of the People’s Progressive Party/Civic, Clement Rohee that the Civic component of the Party is “loose.”

Rohee made the statement on February 24, while being grilled at a PPP/C press conference about the Party’s selection of Elisabeth Harper as its presidential candidate for the May 11 General and Regional Elections.

The General Secretary said “the Civic component is a rather loose arrangement that is associated with the PPP…the civic component does not have a structure…there is no structure, there is no leader…some people were not comfortable with any organizational form being given to the civic component.”

Hinds, who is widely believed to be the leader of the Civic component of the PPP, when questioned on Wednesday, February 25 proffered that some things are meant to be disagreed on.

“Why worry about such things? I am an old engineer and I worry about creating and building things…we could have a million things on which we can disagree but let us focus on the things on which we can agree on and create something,” Hinds told members of the media.

Despite Rohee’s statement that the Civic component is without a leader, Labour Minister Dr Nanda Kishore Gopaul in paying tribute to Hinds’ 22 years in government referred to him as the “Leader of the Civic component.”
