[www.inewsguyana.com]Sport Minister Dr. Frank Anthony has pegged the ‘warm up warm down’ facility to be functional by the second quarter of 2014.

During a recent briefing, the Sport Minister indicated that they are looking to have the National Aquatic Centre fulfilling its purpose.

According to the Sport Minister, the project has two phases, the first of which sees the local contractors constructing a base for the pre – fabricated pool. Dr. Anthony indicated that they are looking to have that basin constructed by the end of February.

He said that persistent rainfall has played a factor in the delay of the construction of the pool but they are still optimistic.

After the completion of the basin, Dr Anthony noted that they have contracted the same company that fabricated the 50m pool to lay the warm up facility. Myrtha Pools, which is responsible for the prefabricated pool at the aquatic centre, will be in the country following the completion of the basin to begin their work.

The centre, when complete will boast a warm up facility spanning 25m and on par with aquatic centers across the Caribbean.
