[www.inewsguyana.com] – United States citizen, 27 – year – old Patrina Dalripple was remanded to prison on Tuesday, April 21 following the recent cocaine bust at Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA).

The mother of one pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that on April 20, at the CJIA Timehri, East Bank Demerara, she had 937 grammes of cocaine in her possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Police Prosecutor Corporal Shawn Gonsalves told the court that on the day in question, ranks from the narcotics branch, conducted a search on her luggage when they found the illegal substance stashed in plastic parcels at the bottom of her suitcase.

Dalripple was represented by Attorney-at-law, Adrian Thompson who told the court that the police have no connection between his client and the drug. He pointed out that his client had no knowledge of the drug being inside of her suitcase and they are still trying to establish who placed it there.

The Police Prosecutor objected to bail on the grounds that no special reasons were given by the defence to satisfy the Court that bail should be granted. She was remanded to prison until May 7.
