Update: Driver in EBD fatal accident in police custody

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Police have taken the driver of the route 42 minibus in custody following the accident at Little Diamond, East Bank Demerara (EBD) yesterday (Tuesday, January 06) which claimed the life of 51 – year – old Yvette Stoll – Joseph.

The woman of Grove, East Bank Demerara was a passenger in the bus at the time it crashed into a utility pole on its way from Timehri to Georgetown.

According to the police, the driver, Travis David, 27 of Agricola, East Bank Demerara was allegedly driving at a fast rate when he lost control of the vehicle and slammed into the pole.

Stoll-Joseph, the driver and three other passengers received injuries and were taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre, EBD, where Stoll-Joseph was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police noted that David and two other passengers were treated and sent away, while Oswin Tappin, 59 years, of Zeskendren, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara, has been admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
