UG’s Vice Chancellor favoured for US$193,000 IDB Contract

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Vice Chancellor of the University of Guyana (UG), Dr Jacob Opadeyi is the “highest ranked” candidate for a US$193,000 three month contract by the Inter – American Development Bank (IDB).

According to information, Dr. Opadeyi entered a bid for the project which involved the consultancy for the Digitization of Immovable Property Records and the Establishment of an Electronic Database with Linkage to the Sub-Registries – Deeds Registry.

According to information provided on the IDB’s website, the objective of the consultancy is to deliver to the Deeds Registry a fully functional, operational, secured, user friendly, responsive, useful and easy to use Land Management Information System for optimal use by staff across the Registry, within the duration set for this project.

It should be noted that since his appointment as Vice Chancellor of UG, Dr. Opadeyi has been urging for the University to rake in more revenue and not to be dependent on government funds.
