Two taxi drivers found themselves before the Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan on Tuesday morning charged separately for having unlicenced ammunition in their possessions.

Herishwar Veersammy, 30, of New Scheme, Herstelling, East Bank Demerara (EBD) and Devindra Sammy, 21, of Farm, East Bank Demerara (EBD) denied the allegations put to them.

It is alleged that Veersammy had one .9mm in his possession on August 19, 2018 at Farm.

Sammy also had one .9mm in his possession on the same day at the same location.

According to their Attorney, George Thomas, both of his clients were not found with the ammunition on their person but in their respective cars which is being used to transport several persons daily.

As such, he asked for their pre-trial liberty to be granted to them disclosing their willingness to have their travel documents lodged.

Both men were placed on $50,000 bail and are expected to return to Court on September 10, 2018.
