A Sophia, Greater Georgetown man was remanded to prison on Monday morning by City Magistrate Judy Latchman after he was allegedly found with an unlicenced gun and 19 rounds of matching ammunition.

Trevor Hilegar, 48, of 389 “A” Field, Sophia, Greater Georgetown denied that he had one .45 rifle in his possession.

He also denied that he had forty .45 live ammunition along with nineteen 7.62×39 live ammunition in his possession on the same day.

His attorney, James Bond told the Court that he was licenced for the firearm for which he was found with.

However Police Prosecutor, Quinn Harris told Magistrate Latchman that the defendant was licenced only for a .32 firearm which he was also found with.

On the day in question, the man was stopped by ranks of the Police Narcotics Branch at Oronoque Street, Queenstown and found with the items in his car trunk.

He however, provided the licenced .32 pistol which was in his carry on bag.

Bail was objected to and the defendant was remanded to prison to reappear on July 30.
