[] – Trinidadian all rounder Lendl Simmons showed the Indian crowd that he is in the class of Chris Gayle and Dwayne Smith with a resounding knock of 68 today as he helped the Mumbai Indians beat the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The Indians’ 7 wicket win got off to a rocky start in their chase of 158, the departure of Chidhambaram Gautam for one after they only had two runs on the board.

However, Simmons showed what he is capable of by hammering his way to 68 making 5 fours and 4 sixes in that bath before he eventually went in the 15th over.

He and Ambati Rayudu put on 130 run partnership for the side, the latter gaining the man of the match performance for his 68, which came in 46 balls, 4 less than Simmons.

It included 7 fours and 2 sixes and did the job for the Indians in 18.4 overs.

Two wickets for Buveshwar Kumar in his four overs, which went for 21, represented the best bowling figures for the side while Moses Henriques had the other wicket to fall.

Earlier, the Hyderabad side made their way to 157 for the loss of 3 wickets, Aaron Finch playing the lead role with 68 from 62 (7 fours and 2 sixes) and David Warner with 55 from 31 balls (6 fours and 2 sixes).

Lasith Malinga had 2 wickets for 32 runs from his maximum overs.

Tomorrow will bring together the Chennai Superkings and the Rajasthan Royals from 06:30h while the Royal Challengers Bangalore will host the Delhi Daredevils from 10:30h.
