Robeson Benn Jr. has been released on bail, following allegations that he battered his ex – girlfriend.

When contacted, Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr. Ivelaw Whittaker revealed that the young man has not been charged as yet, as the police are awaiting advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions [DPP].

According to the Police PRO, Benn Jr. was released from custody on Tuesday and checked in with the police yesterday, Wednesday June 26. He is the son of Public Works Minister, Robeson Benn.

The physical assault against 27-year old Vanisha Seenauth has left her with a swollen right eye and tender head.

According to the woman, Benn Jr. barged into her home during the pre-dawn hours of Sunday, June 23 and assaulted her.

She said that on hearing someone knock on the door, she opened thinking that it was her brother whom she had been expecting. However, it was Benn Jr. who allegedly storm.

Seenauth also alleged that police at Brickdam Police station declined to take a report immediately although she had obtained a medical certificate from the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).

Benn Jr has since denied the allegations.
