Ramsammy clears up speculation about his political future

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Agriculture Minister, Dr. Leslie Ramsammy has cleared the air following reports that he may withdraw from the cabinet due to his ill health.

The Minister, in a Facebook post, reaffirmed his commitment to serve the People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) at the upcoming campaign trail.

The Facebook posted read, “I noticed that there is some speculations and mischievous attempt to miss inform the public that I will not be returning to campaign for the PPP in the upcoming elections…I want to state categorically that I am a part of the PPP and I am and will be campaigning vigorously for the re election of Donald Ramotar as President and PPP for a majority Government.”

He then went on to state that the, “report of my demise and my early departure is grossly exaggerated.”

The Minister remains on leave due to ill health, according to Cabinet Secretary Dr. Roger Luncheon. His illness is cardiac related and that he is seeking treatment in the United States.

Dr. Luncheon during his cabinet media briefing yesterday acknowledged that given Ramsammy’s lengthy absence from the job, there have been speculations about his possible withdrawal from the cabinet, but according to Dr. Luncheon, the Agriculture Minister has not given any such notice or indication to the government.

The Cabinet Secretary however accepted the fact that Dr. Ramsammy’s illness could be a deciding factor on whether he will withdraw from government and the political arena as a whole.
