Leader of the A Partnership For National Unity (APNU) President David Granger this morning declared that he has not yet decided on a prime ministerial candidate for the upcoming elections.

This is despite the fact that Leader of the Alliance For Change (AFC) Khemraj Ramjattan has already been nominated by his party for the position.

When contacted by INews, Ramjattan declared “I have no comment to make” and then ended the call when asked to respond.

President Granger told reporters “I have not named a prime ministerial candidate but I know what I am going to do.”

“I reserve the right to choose and nominate a Prime Minister and I will nominate all ministers, including the Prime Minister, who is my chief Minister, after the elections.”

APNU and AFC signed a new Cummingsburg Accord to contest the upcoming elections together.

Under the previous Accord, the agreement stated that the prime ministerial candidate would be chosen by the AFC.
