[www.inewsguyana.com] – A small protest was held earlier today by football enthusiasts for the removal of the President of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF), Christopher Matthias in front of the GFF’s office in Campbellville.

Organizer of the protest and football enthusiast who is well known in the football circle, Mark Young told iNews Sport that the protest will continue until Matthias decides to resign,

“We’re basically holding this protest for the removal of Matthias, we will be out here every other day until we get word from FIFA or Matthias that he is stepping down,” Young said.

While only three persons showed up, Young stressed that the protest is open for the public to join. The protest comes a mere month after the Golden Jaguars were knocked out of the CFU cup with no wins.

Additionally, the lack of inclusion of foreign Guyanese players has also brought into question Matthias’ aim on developing the sport. Matthias has long been under scrutiny by his detractors but has also received the good grace of FIFA.
