[www.inewsguyana.com] – The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) has condemned what it termed the continued harassment meted out to Clerk of the National Assembly Sherlock Isaacs, by Leader of the Opposition David Granger and other elements of the opposition.

The Party at its weekly press conference on Monday (September 16) described the opposition’s latest attack on the Clerk as another manifestation of its dictatorial tendency.

Executive Secretary of the PPP Zulficar Mustapha said it is clear that the opposition will use all means possible to forge ahead with its agenda of illegalities.

The Executive Secretary says the party has noted the concerns expressed by the Clerk himself, who has served in the position since 2002, describing the current Parliament (10th Parliament) as “the worst” during his tenure.

Mustapha related that this revelation by the Clerk is a clear indication that the people’s interest are not being served by the actions of the AFC/APNU alliance in the National Assembly.

PPP believes the “confusion” in the 10th parliament as described by Isaacs should come as no surprise with the APNU/AFC riding “roughshod” over the nation’s business using their combined one seat majority.

The Party has encouraged the Clerk to remain strong and continue persevering against what it terms the onslaught against his office by the opposition and to continue discharging his mandate in a professional and responsible manner. [Kurt Campbell]
