Pomeroon man remanded to prison over murder charge

Twenty – eight – year- old Seaford Obermuller was today remanded to prison by Magistrate Fabayo Azore on a murder charge.

Obermuller of Wakapau, Pomeroon was not required to plead to the capital offence. It is alleged the on May 23 of 2010 at Ikawana Backdam Cuyuni River the accused murdered Elson Prince.

The prosecution’s case is that on the day of the incident, the accused and Elson Prince had a misunderstanding during which Elson Prince lashed Seaford Obermuller to his forehead.

According to the prosecutor, Obermuller became annoyed and armed himself with a piece of wood and dealt Prince several lashes to his head. Prince was pronounced dead on arrival at the Bartica Public Hospital. The Magistrate remanded Obermuller until September 9. [Royan Abrams]
