A pastor and his wife had to be rushed to the hospital earlier tonight after armed bandits stormed their Foulis, East Coast Demerara home around 19:30 hrs.
The traumatised victims, Pastor Rohit Deonarine and his wife Nirmala were in their shop at their 12th Street Foulis, East Coast Demerara home when three men, two of whom were armed with handguns, barged in and held them at gunpoint.
While it is unclear how the men entered the shop, INews understands that the bandits took off with an undisclosed sum of cash from the day’s proceeding. However, before they escaped, the men gun-butted the couple, severely injuring them in their heads. The couple had to be taken to the hospital to seek medical attention.
At the time of the robbery, the couple’s young daughter was in the upper flat of the house and when she got wind of what was happening, she began screaming to alert neighbours. After hearing the screams, the bandits reportedly ran out of the shop.
