Niles wins Malta Supreme Cycling

[www.inewsguyana.com]In a time of two hours, eleven minutes, twenty nine seconds Junior Niles on Sunday, November 24 won the second annual Banks Malta Supreme 50-mile cycle road race in Berbice.

Niles outsprinted rising star Hamzah Eastman to the finish line to cop the top prize with Godfrey Pollydore a close third.

In the juveniles’ category, Romello Crawford was ahead of Odrell Ross, while Hamzah Eastman was the first junior to complete the event.

For the veterans, Syborne Fernandes was first with Surland Sewhang second.

The sprint point prizes were shared by Pollydore (three), Niles and Eastman (two each) and Reece (one).

During a simple presentation ceremony which followed the race, banks DIH Berbice Sales Supervisor Jagnarine ‘Balram’ Persaud thanked all the riders for participating and handed over the spoils.  The only female to start the race, Marica Dick, took the female category prize.
