Night Shelter resident granted bail for hitting another with a brick

[]Fifty – year – old Phillip Singh of East La Penitence, Georgetown appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore charged with assault causing actual bodily harm.

Singh pleaded guilty with an explanation to the charge after which a not guilty plea was entered by the Magistrate. It is alleged that on October 06 at the night shelter in Georgetown, he assaulted Ganesh Dookram.

The prosecution’s case revealed that both the complainant and accused reside at the night shelter during which they had a misunderstanding. According to the prosecutor, the complainant ignored the accused, who eventually became annoyed and armed himself with a piece of brick and dealt the complainant a lash to his head.

The Magistrate placed Singh on $25,000 bail and he is expected to return to court on October 21. [Royan Abrams]
