DSC_0206[www.inewsguyana.com] – While many will be busy with the hustle and bustle of the back to school period, the end of the August vacation only means one thing for those students blessed with athletic ability – The National School’s athletics, cycling and swimming championships.

The process of carving one’s name into the upper echelon of top junior athletics in Guyana will begin on the first bell of the new Academic year as schools will have to first identify their budding athletes with inter House Championships before mixing with the already established stars.

It is one of the most hectic terms not just for athletes but for teachers as well as added provisions will have to be put in place in order to substantiate for the hectic sports term.

Simply put, it starts the road to what it is more commonly termed as “Nationals”. All of Guyana’s top junior athletes, swimmers, and cyclists will collide in what is arguably Guyana’s ‎biggest and longest running sport event for a shot at glory that will only push them further into the spot light.

However, this year such a road my might prove longer, as just like last year it is being heard that the Ministry of Education is toying with the idea of having Nationals next year while having the Inter Zone Championship in this coming term.

Whether or not Nationals is moved to the Easter term or not, September, when school reopens, to athletes will only mean one thing, the opportunity for national glory.
