Millions more approved for Synthetic Track


[]Cabinet has given its green light to several contracts regarding the ongoing works at the synthetic athletic track being constructed at Leonora, West Coast Demerara.

According to Cabinet Secretary Dr. Roger Luncheon, the government has approved the spending of $69.8 million for land filling and land scaping to the venue

During his post cabinet media briefing on Wednesday he also indicated that $17.2 million was approved for the construction of the Eastern Access Road.

Meanwhile upon iNews’ last visit there, this news agency was updated on the progress of the surface in which the rubberized surface was being laid

When complete the surface will boast an international association of athletics federations ( IAAF) accredited facility capable of hosting track and field events

The project is the first of its kind in the country.
