McCalman is first female GLTA President

20140320_191400[www.inewsguyana.com] – Grace McCalman is now the President of the Guyana Lawn Tennis Association (GLTA) following the election of a new executive board during its Annual General Meeting held on March 20th at the Georgetown Cricket Club Pavilion.

McCalman, the first female to hold the position in the Association will lead the team of Andrew Sawh, 1st Vice-President, Ramesh Seebarran in acting the capacity of 2nd Vice-President while Selma Rahman will perform duties of Secretary.

Elizabeth Persaud is the new treasurer while the committee members are Rebecca Mitchell, Jamal Goodluck, Tandy Primo and Surendra Khayyam while the Public Relations Officer is Waynewright Orderson.

Six tennis Clubs were represented at the meeting including Georgetown Tennis Club, Roraima Tennis Club, Diamond Tennis Club, Le Ressouvenir  Tennis Club, Non Pariel Tennis Club and Park Players Tennis Club.

Outgoing President Ramesh Seebarran reported of the success of the association under his management pointing to the many tournaments held including those sponsored by companies such as Assuria Insurance, Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry, Trophy Stall and Courts.

A major item on the agenda of the new executive shall be the hosting Inter Guianas Tournament that is slated to be held in Georgetown in late October of this year.
