Man tells Court that girlfriend gave him weed for birthday

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan on Monday, December 14 imposed a $10,000 fine on 33 – year – old Jamal Lynch, who pleaded guilty to the possession of narcotics.

He was also sentenced to do four weeks of community service at the Grove Police Station. Lynch of 110 ‘CC’ Eccles, East Bank Demerara (EBD) accepted the charge which read that on December 13 at Grove, EBD he had three grams of cannabis in his possession.

The Court heard that on the day in question, the police saw the man acting in a suspicious manner and conducted a search on his person, during which they discovered the narcotics.

In Court, he told the Magistrate “Yesterday was my birthday and I decide to smoke a joint to feel good. My girlfriend give me the joint to smoke”.
