Diamond resident jailed for 12 months on break and enter charge

[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 24 – year – old resident of Diamond New Scheme, East Bank Demerara (EBD) was on Monday sentenced to serve twelve months in jail after he pleaded guilty to a charge of break and enter and larceny.

The Court heard that between December 07 and December 10, Sachin Bishwah broke and entered into the dwelling house of Floyd Alexander and stole a number of articles, including two amplifiers, computer speakers and a camera all to a total value of $165,000.

It was revealed that police on patrol duties saw the defendant at the Stabroek Market with a black and red shopping bag in his possession. As he was acting in a suspicious manner, they stopped him and conducted a search of the bag.

The items were found and the defendant admitted to breaking into Alexander’s house and stealing the items. Alexander was contacted and he positively identified the items.
