The police have reported that during the wee hours this morning, Monday July 1, 29 – year – old Mahendra Persaud was shot in the face during an argument.
According to a press release, the police responded to a report in relation to the discharging of a loaded firearm at a function at Esau and Jacob, Mahaicony Creek, East Coast Demerara, where they found Mahendra Persaud, in a yard with injuries to his face.
A 12 gauge shotgun and an empty casing were handed over to the police by persons who reported that Mahendra Persaud had an argument with a man during the function.
According to the police, Persaud left and returned with the firearm and discharged a round, after which several persons took away the firearm and during which he received injuries.
Persaud was taken for medical treatment at the Georgetown Public Hospital, as the police continue their investigations.
