Linden accident leads to gruesome death of motorcyclist

Police are now investigating the circumstances which led to the gruesome death of a 29-year-old motorcyclist on Sunday night on the Amelia’s Ward public road in Linden.

The deceased has been identified as Wilbert Sydney of Lot 70 Half Mile, Wismar, Linden.

Based on information gathered, the fatal accident occurred around 21:30hrs as Sydney was travelling on his motorcycle, CH 5634, proceeding east.

He reportedly attempted to overtake mini-bus BVV 6450, which was at the same time, in the process of overtaking motor lorry GRR 6181, when the motorcycle collided with motor car, PNN 4510 which was travelling in the opposite direction.

This resulted in Sydney being tossed from his motorcycle and hitting the motor lorry before landing several feet away on the road.

Public spirited persons rushed Sydney, who at this point had his right arm severed from his body among other visibly injuries, to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

His severed arm was found some distance away from where his body landed.

The drivers of the motor car and lorry were also hospitalized for injuries.

Investigations are ongoing.
