[www.inewsguyana.com] – Ansa McAL through its Mackeson brand launched their ‘King of the Rim’ 3-on-3 tournament scheduled to start on November 30.
Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Company, Darshnie Yusuf highlighted that the organisers changed a few of the logistics to reach all of their consumers as well as making the event more successful.
Jamal Douglas, Brand Manager for Mackeson stressed his goal for the tournament, noting that “we hope to make basketball a Mackeson sport.”
The top team will receive a first place prize of $500,000 while the second place team will receive $300,000. The teams winning the various zones will receive $25,000 each.
President of the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF), Nigel Hinds who was also present for the event mentioned that the tournament can be a talent spotting event.
“It is the largest urban sport in the world and FIBA recognises it as a pillar for basketball development.
“We can source talent from this tournament and I am sure we can identify players that can be a part of our national trials,” Hinds stated.
The tournament is expected to be played in Linden, Georgetown, East Coast, West Coast and West Bank with the final set for December 20.
Games are expected to start from 19:00h as registration for the tournament is still ongoing.
