[www.inewsguyana.com] – Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr. Roger Luncheon has debunked an article published in the Kaieteur News, which stated that he (the HPS) confirmed that former President Bharrat Jagdeo was in favour of pursuing mining activities in the disputed New River Triangle area.
Dr. Luncheon dismissed the article as “falsehood” which he never stated. He noted that there is abundant evidence in the public domain which disputes this claim. He reminded that a proposal was indeed taken before Cabinet during the former president’s term of Office (2006-2011) dealing with exploratory activities in the New River Triangle.
He said that former President Jagdeo’s position in this regard was an emphatic and dogmatic, a fact that is well-known.
“I still do not believe that this information was not available to Kaieteur News when by headlines they sought to imply otherwise, worse yet to indicate the origins for this deliberate and most uncharitable comment to be attributed to the Cabinet Secretary,” he lamented.
