Jamaica: Brother quarrel turns deadly

(Jamaica Observer) A man was shot dead by his brother and a woman injured during a dispute on Delacree Road in Kingston yesterday morning.

OBSERVER ONLINE understands that 39-year-old Dave Coke, a bus driver from Bay Farm Road in Kingston, was trying to quell a quarrel between his brothers about an oil spill, when he was shot dead.

According to police, one of the brothers went for his licensed firearm and shot Coke in the back and head.

Residents apprehended and disarmed the shooter, while Coke along with the injured woman, were taken to the hospital. Coke was pronounced dead and the woman admitted in stable condition.

Police say the brother was subsequently taken into custody and the firearm seized.
