[www.inewsguyana.com] – A Partnership for National Unity Executive Member and Parliamentarian Joseph Harmon has been challenged to a public debate on ‎Bai Shan Lin’s operation and any other related forestry matter‎ by Commissioner of Forest, James Singh

In a letter to Harmon and copied to the media, Singh recalled the recently held Parliamentary Sectoral Committee on Natural Resources on July 14, 2014 at which the matter of Bai Shan Lin’s forestry operation was an Agenda Item.

According to Singh, “I wish to refer to a meeting at which all matters and areas of clarification related to forestry activities, including Bai Shan Lin’s operations were fully addressed with relevant details provided. In this regard, one of the matters which arose was the allocation of state forest area to Bai Shan Lin and I provided full information and details to the Sub Committee.”

“I wish to categorically state that the GFC’s has clear, transparent and technically sound guidelines and procedures for all aspects of its forestry operation and these are uniformly and consistently applied across the forest sector. ‎The GFC role as a regulatory agency involves interactive and open dialogue with stakeholders,” according to Singh.

In challenging Harmon, the Commissioner stated: “In this regard, I would like to invite you to a Public Debate on Bai Shan Lin’s operation and any other related forestry matter, at a time that is convenient to you.”

Efforts made by iNews to contact Harmon for a comment on this matter proved futile.

  2. This guy Harmon will never show up for a debate. Like the others in his party they are afraid of public debates because they simply dream up statistics. They make statements in the press and then run and hide because they have nothing to back it up. Recall the NCN debates with Al Creighton, the PNC were in hiding.

At the Rodney COI, this guy claims to be representing former military officers of the GDF, GNS and People’s Militia. He hardly showed up for the hearings (went in hiding again) and whenever he does he cross examines no witness. You are more likely to see him speaking/cross examining the press. Harmon, Granger and some others intend to institute military strategies to reform the PNC. Note they are always in uniform (green shirt and dark pants) whether its in the office, meeting with foreign officials or a walkabout. Political parties in Guyana are civilian entities, Granger and his army cohorts like Harmon are doomed to fail.

The only person left that can bring back some sanity to the PNC is Mr Greenidge. Norton cannot do it. Hoyte gave him a chance and he blew it. I was advised, by reliable sources, that the first thing Norton did when Hoyte made him the GS, he (Norton) tried to screw all the young girls at party headquarters and elsewhere. The other thing was he misused funds and racked up millions in debts. He is not a leader.

Give the leadership to Greenidge. And yes, Harmon will not show up for the debate on Bai Shan Lin. He will put on his uniform and go into hiding, the same way cowards do.
