[www.inewsguyana.com] – Barbadian security officials are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Onicka Malicia Gulliver whose body was discovered in a bushy area in Vauclus, St. Thomas, Barbados.

The woman – a Guyanese national – has been reported missing since Tuesday (March 11) by her relatives on the island. The discovery was made on Friday morning (March 14)  just after sunrise and relatives converged at the scene to identify the body after receiving the news.

Speaking to iNews (www.inewsguyana.com) during a telephone interview from his Essequibo home, the dead woman’s uncle said that he has not spoken to or seen the woman in years.

He said that he was at home in Essequibo, Region 2 when he received a call from someone in Barbados informing him that his brother’s daughter had been found dead.

He said that he was not aware that the young lady was missing over in Barbados. The man also noted that he has not been in any recent contact with the woman’s father Bert Gulliver neither her mother Colleen Gulliver.

Authorities in Barbados revealed that they arrested one man in connection with the murder. The Gullivers have relatives in several parts of Guyana and are mainly from Georgetown and Bartica, the uncle told iNews (www.inewsguyana.com).

Efforts to make contact with other relatives of the dead woman proved futile.
