Guyanese killed during road accident in Canada

An elderly man is dead after being struck by a truck in Scarborough Thursday evening. He has been identified as William Dukhu.

Police say the man, believed to be in his late 80s, was struck by a truck travelling westbound on Milner Avenue near Markham Road shortly after 6 p.m. Dukhu is a Guyanese citizen, who once lived in Zeeburg, West Coast Demerara.

The man was travelling from the north to the south side of the street on his mobility device when he was hit, police say.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision at the scene.
