Guyanese Author goes international, telling a story of rape, revenge and religion


unnamed (1)[] – On January 7, Julia Theresa Kanhai officially became a published author when her first book was released in the USA. Already scoring numerous hits on Google, BACKSLIDER by Terry K. (the author’s pen name) is now available at Amazon and Barnes and Noble in America, Fishpond and Angus Robertson in Australia, and Eden in England.

The fictional novel set in New Jersey and New York tells the story of rape, revenge and religion but is intended for adult readers only. Julia started writing poems at the age of eight and participated in impromptu speaking and elocution competitions in high school. In 2003 she earned a distinction in Literature at CXC and was awarded Best Literary Student. By 2008 she graduated from the University of Guyana with a Bachelor of Arts and has been lecturing English there since. Terry K. is now writing her second novel titled Dream Guy.untitleduntitled
