Guyana’s top male, female Badminton players off to Junior PANAM Championships

The name Ramdhani is synonymous with badminton in Guyana so it is no surprise when the team to represent the Golden Arrowhead was selected that Narayan and Priyanna were inked in.

Guyana’s Top Male & Female Badminton Players, Narayan Ramdhani & Priyanna Ramdhani, will represent Guyana at the Pan American Junior Badminton Championships July 19-23, 2016 at the Centro de Alto Rendimiento in Lima, Peru.

Narayan will be playing in the Under-19 Singles, Doubles and Mix Doubles while Priyanna (4-times Medalist at Panam Juniors) will be playing in the Under-15 Singles & Doubles and Under-19 Mix Doubles.

The two players selected by the Development Director will also attend the Pan Am High Tech Junior Academy July 23-30, 2016.

The Guyana Badminton Association (GBA) would like to thank The Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) & National Sports Commission (NSC) for sponsoring the Airline Tickets for the players and also Mr. Yesu Persaud of Demerara Bank, Mr. Philip Da Silva, Mr. Neville Osman & Continental Group of Companies (SUNBURST) for their contribution in making the tour a possibility.

Both players are enjoying prolific runs in 2016 and are in good shape due to excellent preparatory works done to date.

Narayan Ramdhani, who won the Junior Sportsman of the year award for 2015 recently won Gold at the GUMDAC Open Doubles; Bronze at the Peru Junior Doubles International; Gold at the Suriname Under-19 International in Singles, Double & Mix Doubles; Gold at the Trophy Stall Open Singles and Gold at the GOA Open Doubles & Mix Doubles.

Meanwhile, Priyanna Ramdhani won Gold at the GUMDAC Open Doubles; Gold at the Suriname Under-15 International in Singles & Bronze in Mix Doubles; Gold at the Surname Under-19 International Mix Doubles; Gold at the Trophy Stall Open Singles and Gold at the GOA Open Doubles & Mix Doubles.

Other than the two athletes, President of the Guyana Badminton Association Gowkarn Ramdhani is part of the touring party in the capacity of manager/Coach. The three member Guyana team were expected to be in Peru last night ahead of the opening day of the championships on July 19.
