Guyana’s recently crowned National Women’s Table Tennis champion and Lindenwood University scholarship holder, Chelsea Edghill completed an impressive showing on the intercollegiate circuit, winning the Women’s Singles at the National Regional Division Intercollegiate Table Tennis Championships.
The competition which pits upper Midwest Division teams against Lower Midwest Division teams was played at the gymnasium of the University of Lindenwood Missouri on February 20.
Just off her recent success at the national championships in Guyana, Edghill defeated Maria Castillo of the University of Wisconsin in the finals by a 3-0 margin to secure the victory while avenging an earlier defeat to Castillo in the group matches.
In group action seeded number one in group two, she lost to eventual finalist Castillo 3-2, defeated Furuta Mayuko 3-0, Andrea Hoppert 3-0 and Jinvi Humi by a 3-0 margin to emerge out of group two.
In the quarterfinals she defeated Yan Dan and later went on to defeat defeated Zhang Yixin in the semi-finals before avenging her earlier lost to Castillo in the final.
