Gold miner nabbed with cocaine pellets at airport

A 26-year-old gold miner is now in Police custody after being caught with cocaine pellets in his possession at the Ogle International Airport around 05:30hrs this morning.

 INews understands that the miner has admitted to also swallowing some of the pellets.

The man who is from Durban Street, Georgetown, was scheduled to depart Guyana this morning on a Liat flight destined for Barbados. Police, in a statement, said “ranks at the Police Narcotics Branch arrested a Guyanese National, who was an outgoing passenger at the Ogle Airport,  after 518 grams of cocaine were found concealed in his under-clothes”.

 The man has been admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he is under Police guard.
