[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Georgetown Football Association (GFA) launched its fourth annual Banks Beer Cup on Tuesday, December 02 at the Banks DIH Headquarters, Thirst Park.

Sixteen teams will contest the tournament that begins on Friday, December 05 for the top prize of $3 million. Second place will receive $1.5 million, third $1 million and fourth $500,000.

At the launching, GFA’s President Vernon Burnett was elated to once again partner with Banks DIH for the tournament.

“The tournament has grown to become a very successful and entertaining tournament, and we anticipate nothing different this year and Banks DIH has been a great partner for us.”

Banks Beer Brand Manager, Brian Choo-Hen also noted that the tournament has grown and hopes that the tournament will only develop each year.

Preliminary games will be held at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC), Tucville and Guyana Defence Force (GDF) grounds.

Meanwhile, the teams have been divided into four groups of four as a double-header between Alpha United and Black Water and Northern Rangers versus Police will mark the kick off games from 19:00hrs.

The final of the tournament is set for New Years day with a venue yet to be decided on. According to the organisers, the National Stadium is being considered for the grand finale.
