This was disclosed by the organizing committee at the tournament’s launch at the National Resource Centre on Friday, May 02.
According to Director of the YBG, Chris Bowman, the tournament has continued into its ninth year because it is seen as a training ground for the youth of the sport and acts as a guide for the future.
Bowman noted that there are at least three players in the current club Champions team – the Dynas Ravens – that were part of the schools tournament, citing this success story as a clear example of its work.
The event in which 12 teams will be selected in the final round is sponsored by Digicel, Banks DIH Limited and Edward B. Beharry and Company Limited and will run from May 10 to July 11.
The Georgetown Regionals will run from May 10 to July 4 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall while the National finals will go from July 6 to 13.
