GECOM trains staff for GDF/Police voting process

[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) recently concluded training for E-Day staff members to work with the disciplined forces, that is, the Guyana Defence Force, the Guyana Police Force and the Guyana Prison Service.

According to a release from GECOM, “this interactive one-day training exercise took place last Saturday at St. Joseph’s High School and was attended by trainers currently utilized by GECOM to train polling day staff.

 It was noted that participants were taught the important duties of the Ballot Officer, Ballot Attendants, as well as those of the Ballot Clerk. Further, they were given the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the relevant content and methodology required for the efficient and effective conduct of the Disciplined Services Balloting process.

“As the training session progressed, participants acquainted themselves with the relevant Forms and Envelopes required for the proper conduct of the Disciplined Services Ballot. In addition, they were given practice in the accurate way to complete the relevant Forms and Records that are part of the Disciplined Services Balloting process,” the release stated.

The release also noted that participants were also able to “develop a deep appreciation for the organizational structure that will be utilized to facilitate the efficient, effective and transparent conduct of the Disciplined Services Balloting.”
