Forde, D’Andrade, Morgan start season on a high

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Distance King, Cleveland Forde and Alika Morgan dominated the Bigi Broki Waka Suriname 10K on Sunday morning over the Wijdenbosch Bridge.

Forde won the 10k race in 34 minutes ahead of fellow Guyanese Cleveland Thomas in windy overcast conditions while Morgan won the female version of the race in a time of 41:45s. Running Brave’s Andrea Foster was second in the event.

Meanwhile, in the 5K version of the event, Lionel D’Andrade won the race in 17mins 07s while Aloeboetoe Gilberto was second in 17:24. Vorswijk Rochini was third in the event with a time of 17:39.

D’Andrade was pleased with the performance since it was his first of the year.

“It was a good race, just a little difficult with the bridge, because it’s very high,” he stated.

Morgan on the other hand was more concerned about finishing her 2015 season “injury free” when compared to her injury riddled 2014 year.
