A Norton Street man, who was in 2011 found not guilty of murder in the High Court of Law, found himself before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts this morning (Tuesday) charged with stealing his ex-girlfriend’s gold chain.

Godfrey Thompson, 28, denied the allegation put to him by presiding Magistrate, Fabayo Azore.

It is being alleged that he stole the gold chain valued $35,000 from Selena Charles on July 29, at Mandela Avenue, Georgetown.

The defendant told the Court that he did not steal the chain as he was the person who bought same for the Virtual Complainant (VC).

However, the Police Prosecutor objected to bail being granted stating that Thompson has a pending murder trial against him which could make him a flight risk.

Thompson however, denied this and disclosed that a motion has been filed for him to be retried for the 2005 murder for which he was found not guilty of.

Magistrate Azore remanded him to prison on the robbery charge and ordered him to reappear on August 15, 2018.
