Florida Softball Cup set for March 11-13…Guyana to be represented by Regal XI

Regal XI will represent Guyana at the 13th edition of the Florida Softball Cup slated for March 11-13 at the Brain Picelo Park.
Regal who defeated New York All Stars and Floodlight in the Guyana Cup 5 open and masters finals respectively in 2015 will be led by Chien Gittens and Troy Kippins respectively.

According to a release, the competition is being held to celebrate Guyana’s 50th Independence Anniversary and is being organised by the Consulate of Guyana in association with the South Florida Softball Cricket League (SFSCL).

In addition, the squad met with Director of Sport, Christopher Jones on Friday where Jones wished the team success while noting that teams have become ambassadors of the nation in the sport of softball.

Vice-Captain of the team Samuel Kingston expressed confidence in his side, “We have a number of players who can hold their own in any given situation so I am confident we can go all the way,” he added.

The teams; Open- Chien Gittens (Capt.), Samuel Kingston, Pritvinauth Motilall, Safraz Esau, Roohit Dutchin, Delroy Perreira, Seewchand Budhu, Balram Roopnarine, Sachin Singh, Navin Singh, Kawson Joseph, Richard Latif, Ricky Sergeant, Fazal Rafiek and Tyrone Sanasie.

Masters: Troy Kippins (Capt.), Mahendra Hardyal, Rudolph Baker, Mahesh Chunilall, Shawn Massiah, Fazleem Mohamed, Laurie Singh, Longsford Klass, Mohamed Rafeek, Rudolph Rodrigues, Eion Abel, Peter Persaud, Raymond Harper, Afzal Haniff and Amarnauth Boodhoo. Intercab Kharamattalee manager.
