The 19-year-old girl from Supenaam in Region Two who was battling for her life at the Suddie Public Hospital after she attempted to commit suicide last weekend, succumbed this morning.

Despite valiant efforts by the doctors they could not save the young woman’s life.

She had been admitted last Saturday after attempting to take her own life, allegedly after receiving a stern warning from her mother about a young man she recently met online.

Reports are that the 19-year-old received her first cellular phone about a month ago and begun chatting with a boy on the popular social website ‘Facebook’.

According to the girl’s mother, her daughter had left home under the pretext of visiting her cousin and later when the mother arrived at the cousin’s residence she saw her daughter and the boy together ‘chatting’.

The distraught mother stated that when she questioned the young man as to his name he was rude in his response and said “I don’t have a name.”

She then took her daughter home where she had a serious conversation about the incident as she tried to ascertain what relations the young woman and the boy had.

The woman had indicated that subsequent to the conversation her daughter was annoyed.

INews understands that the woman found her daughter in a helpless manner last Saturday morning and immediately rushed her to the Suddie hospital where doctors were monitoring her condition.
