Elderly Kuru Kururu man tied up, robbed of valuables, vehicle in home invasion

Police are hunting three men who reportedly broke into a Kuru Kururu, Linden/Soesdyke Highway home on Monday morning, tied up its owner and made good their escape with the man’s Toyota Auris motorcar- bearing licence number PVV1491- along with a quantity of cash and other valuables.

Based on information received, the owner of the home, Frederick David, 61, was reportedly sleeping in his bedroom with his wife, when he recalled being awakened by three armed men who were standing by his bed at about 01:45hrs.

David, a pensioner, told police that the bandits, who were each armed with a cutlass, shotgun and knife, respectively, ordered him to get on the floor, and they proceeded to bound his hands and feet, before gagging him.

The bandits then placed the man in a lying position on the floor.

INews was told that David’s wife was still asleep, at this time.

The three perpetrators then began to ransack the home, gathering the couple’s valuables, including  one 40” TCL Flat Screen television, two gold rings, two Blu mobile phones, one Samsung Galaxy mobile phone, two Dell Laptops, and $25,000 in cash.

They then fled the scene in David’s motorcar in an unknown direction.

The police were later contacted and it was discovered that the bandits reportedly gained entry into the home through the back door of the house.

Investigations are ongoing.
