Corentyne sales rep granted $80,000 bail over illegal ammo possession

A sales representative, who was found with a round of ammunition was made to answer for the offense when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts earlier today (Wednesday).

Sanjay Martin, 35, of Lot 64 Village, Corentyne, Berbice denied that he was in possession of a single 9mm ammunition at Main Street on August 27, without being the holder of an ammunitions licence.

According to the attorney representing the accused, ranks went to a popular Main Street night spot and his client, along with others, was arrested following the discovery of the ammunition which was reportedly found on the counter of the club.

However, the others were released by Police and Martin was charged with the offense of which he is vehemently denying.

The attorney also revealed that her client has no previous convictions and no pending matter before the Court.

Police Prosecutor Shawn Gonsalves had no bail objections and this was granted in the sum of $80,000.
