Driver killed, flung out of vehicle after slamming into bridge


A 36-year-old man is now dead after losing control of his motor vehicle along the Liliendaal Public Road, East Coast Demerara during the wee hours of Wednesday morning.

Dead is Terrence Bowen of lot 62 Atlantic Ville, East Coast Demerara.

Based on information received, at around 00:10hrs, Bowen was travelling alone, heading east along the northern carriageway of the public road in motor car PVV7104, when he lost control of the reportedly speeding vehicle.

This resulted in him crashing into a bridge in front of the Ocean View Hotel and Conference Centre. Eyewitnesses revealed that due to the impact, Bowen came crashing through the vehicle’s windscreen into the hotel’s compound, sustaining severe injuries.

He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police have launched an investigation into the fatal accident.
