Colts rally past VVR behind Thomas’ hot hand

[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Bounty Colts was able to overcome the Victory Valley Royals 86-78 behind the hot shooting of Shelroy ThoBBallmas on Sunday evening at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall in the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) National Hard Court practice game.

Thomas was hot from the field in the final quarter dropping 12 of his game high 28 points to lead the way for the Colts.

With the constant lead changes in the final quarter it took to back-to-back threes from Thomas to hand the Colts the lead for good at the 1:45 mark.

Shane Webster who was recently acquired by the Colts from Linden also scored 10 of his 18 points in the fourth, mostly off garbage buckets.

Rayon Cummings, 12 points and Niko Fraser 10 points were the other scorers for the Colts in the winning cause.

Leading the way for VVR was Harold Adams with 27 points while guard Chris Williams had 21 points in the game. Marlon Pollyrdore also dropped 12 points in the loss.

Meanwhile Nirva Knights squeaked by Canje Knights 62-61 to give the Georgetown side the win. Akil Lewis top scored with 24 points while Owan Walton had 20 points as well.

 

Jason Gladstone had a team high 17 points to lead the Berbice side while Steve Roopnarine and Kevon Emmanuel netted 16 and 14 points respectively.
