[www.inewsguyana.com] – An iNews poll has found citizens are not in agreement with the Opposition’s rejection of dialogue with the government, following President Donald Ramotar’s decision to prorogue the 10th Parliament.

They believe the Opposition’s rejection was not in the best interest of Guyana. The iNews poll asked: Was the Opposition’s rejection of dialogue with the Government in the interest of the country?

In response, 70 percent voted ‘no’, 29 percent ‘yes’ and a mere eleven persons were undecided.

Following the prorogation of Parliament, the Opposition rejected the President’s proposal for dialogue, stating that there will be no dialogue outside of the National Assembly.

They described the President’s decision as a dictatorship and have led weekly protest outside the Office of the President.

The President has since decided to set a date for General and Regional Elections early next year, one year before it is constitutionally due.
