Cabinet approves increased salaries, stipends for NDC workers, Councillors

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Cabinet has approved a five percent increase in wages and salaries for workers at all 67 Neighbourhood Democratic Councils effective from January 1.

Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr Roger Luncheon told reporters at a news conference on Wednesday, February 11 that Cabinet also approved increase in stipends for entities in the Local Democratic System and Town Councils.

“Cabinet approved the increases in wages and salaries for the workers in the Neighbourhood Democratic Councils and they, to the extent that the NDCs, the Councils was able to fund the increases, they would receive a 5 percent increase in their December 2014 salary,” the Cabinet Secretary said.

He said the details as it relates to the increase in stipends will be provided at a later date.
