BVI resident caught with Marijuana in Bel Air house; charged and ordered deported

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Forty – eight – year – old Denzil Williams of the British Virgin Islands, was today fined $20,000 by Magistrate Ann McLennan for the illegal possession of four grammes of Marijuana.

Police Prosecutor, Dinero Jones told the Court that the substance was found at Williams’ residence on December 22, at Ituni Street, Bel Air Park Georgetown during a search by police, who acted on information.

The Court heard that leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis were found in the wardrobe. A default in paying the fine will result in four months imprisonment and he was also ordered to perform two weeks of community service.

Upon completion of the ordered service, the unrepresented man will remain in police custody until he is deported.
