Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 60-year-old Friendship, East Bank Demerara resident whose body was fished out a trench in the village on Monday morning.
Dead is Vernon Jackson.
Based on information received, the deceased – who is unemployed- was living in a makeshift shack under a tree at Friendship, East Bank Demerara.
On Friday last, he reportedly left his home to visit his cousin, who also resides in the village.
She claims that she last saw the man at about 12:00h that day, when he left her home.
At about 08:00hrs yesterday, INews was told that passerbys observed Jackson’s badly deteriorated body floating in a trench located south of the shack in which he lived.
The police were contacted and the body was subsequently transported to the Lyken Funeral Parlour, awaiting a post mortem examination.
