Benn shuns question on his alleged order to imprison heckler

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Public Works Minister Robeson Been has refused to comment on allegations leveled against him, which stated that he had a young man locked up for heckling him.

When contacted by iNews the Minister did not dismiss the allegations, but instructed that other eyewitnesses tell the story and indicated his unwillingness to do same.

“Talk to the witnesses, I am not going to comment, my driver was there talk to him” Benn added.

Miner, 32 – year – old Andrew John Stone of Georgetown  claims that Minister Benn had him locked up overnight at the Parika Police Station for saying that the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) government will lose the next general elections for neglecting the people.

He is also threatening to take legal action against Minister Benn. He is making his case on the grounds that through the Minister’s action, his right to freedom of speech has been violated. He is also accusing the Minster of abuse of power and victimization.
